Cliff jumping, Dreams and Shiny Things.

The timing for chasing your dreams will never be right.
So give up,,,, and chase them NOW!

There will always be a reason why you can’t do it now. The economy is bad, what would people think, I don’t have enough experience, the wind is blowing. Who are you kidding, stop being afraid and just jump.
Those who know me will tell you that I rarely wait till the timing is right. They might also tell you that i am a bit irresponsible. Both may be true, I tend to jump in with both feet and then see if the water is deep enough. Yup, i have broken a few theoretical legs, but i have already jumped off more cliffs than most people will in their entire lives. I have had a lot of fails, but i have had a lot of success as well and learned a whole lot. One thing i can say for certain is that i have had an interesting life, and none of the things i have done have killed me. I live another day to chase new dreams and follow shiny objects. So, am I irresponsible? I would suppose that is all a matter of view point isn’t it. There are those that would not dream of jumping out of a perfectly fine running air plane or jump off a cliff just because. There are those that don’t follow shiny things because they are to busy.
Shiny things are the people, places, things and ideas that appeal to you and distract you from the drone of daily “responsible” life. A shiny thing is that flower you stopped to smell on the way to work this morning and the picture you pulled over to take of the sun set or the trip you took by just jumping in your car and taking off.
I follow shiny things..... A lot. I sometimes stop following something shiny to follow something that sparkles. Every now and again I follow things that are not shiny just because I can. If you see something on your way in to work tomorrow that catches your eye, pull over and check it out, you might learn some thing. At the very least you will have done something that you wanted to do.
For years i would drive by the farmers fields on trips and vacations and wonder how do they move all those sprinklers. Finally one day i saw a farmer near the fence by the road so i pulled over and asked him. Now i know. I am not going to tell you how, find your own farmer. That was a shiny thing. Once I jumped in my car and drove a cross the country in the worst ice storm I have ever seen, so I could go to the beach and get warm. That was definitely a shiny thing and i would totally do that again.

Don’t let the “you need stability” people talk you out of following your dreams. What is stability any way?
The ability to repeat the same thing over and over again?
Having the same job for a long time?
Having money all the time?
  • Some times you have to lose it all just to find out what you were after in the first place.
Being able to stand?
  • You had to learn to walk, you certainly where not stable then. if you don’t take that first step you just might crawl through life on the stability of you hands and knees.

If you want or need stability, go for it, maybe that is your dream. But if its not, don’t allow the “stabile” people scare you into inaction.

Get up! Go Fall Down! Learn to Walk! Learn to Run after what you Want!
And for the sake of all that is good Chase your Dreams and Follow shiny objects, you might learn something about your self.

Please excuse me I See something shiny..........
