Hackintosh, so far so good.

So for a while now I have been reading about how if you buy a Dell Mini 10v you can “Hackintosh” it by putting OS X (Mac operating system) on it. The Dell sells for about $250. The Mac OS is $30 so for around $300 dollars you can have your self a pretty cheap Mac. I thought I would give it a try to see if it was all that..
I order this directly from Dell and received it on Friday. By that night I was up and running.
Most of the sites that I have been reading say that it is a breeze to load the OS and go. For the most part I found that to be true. I did have some small things that needed to be sorted out but all and all the whole process took only a few hours and most of that was waiting for the install and what not. I have been using what I now call the ”DMIN” for one day, and I have to say that I am very impressed. I have loaded on most of the programs that I use on a regular basis’ and it runs them all pretty good. This is not a full Mac so I expect some slowness but for the most part have not had any problems with running software or using it as I do my Mac Book Pro. It is not as fast as my MBP but still works and is more than half the weight and size of the MBP. I am typing this blog on the DMIN now.
The one thing I do thing I do find rather amusing is: all the Mac programs work flawlessly on this PC Hardware, however the Microsoft programs have alot of glitches. This just makes me laugh for some reason, not that Micrsoft programs don’t have glitches any where.
I hope to use the DMIN for Travel/Ride Blogging. Being able to toss this in the side bag of the bike and not have to worry that my $2000 computer is being bounced around inside. And maybe if I can find a tether hack for my phone I can have internet everywhere. If this whole thing works out I see some new computers in girls future. Now lets see if it uploads to the web.....
